Yoga:

Would yoga be something helpful for you in achieving permanent and successful weight loss? More and more Americans are discovering the benefits of this ancient mind-body practice.

Yoga is ranked as the number one group activity in gyms. You can choose from a gentle form of yoga called Hatha, or other more vigorous styles like power yoga. You could even choose Bikram yoga, which is done in a heated room.

The benefits of yoga include increased strength and flexibility as well as improved breathing and concentration.

Our bodies burn more calories when we have more muscle than when we have more fat. Remember, ladies, your body naturally has more fat than men. That's perfectly fine. Whether male or female, being the best we can be for good health is what we want.

Core Training:

Core training works the midsection and torso of the body, considered by some to be the "power house." It focuses on the muscles in the abdomen, pelvis, back, hips and neck. One of the exercise programs considered Core Training is Pilates.

Pilates:

The exercises taught in Pilate's help strengthens the deep inner muscles of the body's core and can take some time to learn to do correctly. Pilates is helpful to people who want to lose weight while toning the deep muscles of the body's core.

Walking:

Walking requires no healthclub membership and can be gaged to personal limits and stamina. For many who find a partner to walk with, walking can have both social and aerobic benefit.

Bicycling:

Wear a helmet and find a safe route to ride if you enjoy this form of aerobic workout.

Swimming:

This is a wonderful way to get a full body workout that builds strength and aerobic endurance.

Dancing:

As those of you who have read our book The Missing Link Successful Weight Loss, know, Annie likes to dance around her house for some aerobic exercise. If you are not into dancing around all by yourself, you could choose a more organized form of movement. There are many classes offered for different styles of dance. You may decide an African Dance class would be enjoyable. How about Salsa Dancing or Belly Dance. You could also find a dance hybrid class like NIA (neuromuscular integrative action) which is a whole body workout, combining dance, martial arts and yoga. Any of these dance classes which combine music and movement can be a fun and energetic way to get and stay fit.

The Missing Link, book and CD, helps you learn to use your unconscious mind for weight loss guidance. You can use that same process to select from exercise options you have experienced to determine what works best for you.
